Wooden Mask 01:15
Maybe I should tell someone about This dream I had Some nights ago I was in the forest by myself I saw a girl From far away When she turned around I saw she wore A wooden mask With yellow glass for eyes Felt them staring at my shoulder blades As I ran home And after I woke up

Hunting Song 02:13
In my youth I would run Unaware It was fun To pretend It could ever last Now the game Doesn't flee Only time Runs from me And the hunt Isn't what it was Leaning lower The blood runs slower Still I'm waiting Even today I can see Yellow eyes In the trees On the tide Rotten bandage smell It was always a chore To make life On the shore But it seems That I must again Leaning lower The blood runs slower Still I'm searching Even today For the plow In the sweat Of my brow There's a peace I may never know In my youth I would hunt Tooth and claw Word and law I would still But the sun is low

What if not a mistresses' love Or a thirst for honey rye and stout Draws a man out after dark? What is he doing? This was what she asked about her spouse Friends and neighbors going house to house No one could explain or seemed to know What is he doing? Nothing here for miles but tree and rock Nowhere in the dark for him to go Down the path that only hunters know What is he doing? Some nights he would vomit And seize on the ground His wife had to turn him So he wouldn't drown And those bed-side puddles Acidic and foul Arranged into shapes And they were dancing and swirling And begging her to stay Then one day at last She had the courage to ask What has come to pass? He turned pale in fright Tears swelled in his eyes And he answered so: One day I'll take you Where the wild lemons grow One day I'll show you He did not come home after that Village shaman had presumed him dead Built a funeral pyre to guide his rest But the totem didn't catch ablaze Putrid yellow smoke began to rise Needled at the lungs and burned the eyes

Closely 01:25
Scratching away at the bark Listening closely I couldn't stay in the dark I'm getting no sleep The way I was taught to react Felt like a stab in the back But it was the strength that I lacked Is this how I hang my head? Signs of decay at the gums Dividing each day into one Is this where I toss my net? Finding no meaning in the work I manage to hit every mark Scratching away at the bark Listening closely

Downwind 02:31
Clear your mind Leave the bread behind Eating dulls the senses Hunger cleanses Stay downwind Never heard or seen Mind which twigs and grasses Speak the loudest Should you miss the heart Spear will finish that Which the arrow started This part's the hardest When the beast is felled Say a hunters' prayer For the life you've stolen And thank the forest

Story Goes 03:00
Story goes Mansi came home And took his wife Both left the village Left behind all that they owned here No one's seen Either of them since Some folks say He was possessed by Evil ways Took both of their lives Others claim He had a new heart Went away Looked for a fresh start Was it death? Was it redemption? No one can Answer this question Was he changed? Was he pretending? Did he get his happy ending? Story goes. His happy ending.

about

A dark, psychedelic fairy-tale.
The songs in this release tell the story of Mansi, a tribal hunter who becomes suddenly missing from his tight-knit village community. Does he run from the mundane or is he driven by a hidden, otherworldly evil?
What beckons a man into the wild?
